In the square we can also enjoy various crafts!!!
The Ceará Crafts Center (CeArt) is a market in Fortaleza that sells handicrafts produced in Ceará.
It emerged in 1979 at the hands of Luiza Távora, then first lady of the state, as a government action to promote, develop and organize crafts in Ceará.
Ceart's first headquarters, designed by architects Melânia Cartaxo, Nélia Romero, with consultancy from architect Roberto Castelo, used carnauba trunks in its structure. However, the construction wore out over time and a new project had to be built on the site. The new Central was opened in March 1992.
In 2006, the total number of registered artisans reached almost 35 thousand
Currently the body is linked to the Secretariat of Labor and Social Development. In addition to functioning as a market, the Center offers training courses for artisans, promotes actions to take their works to other markets and hosts exhibitions.
